Where is SoulMate Made?
Our food is made in three locations across the North Island of New Zealand:
Huntly: Nestled between rolling hills and the serene Waikato River, Huntly offers peaceful, open landscapes perfect for celebrating the simple, wholesome ingredients behind SoulMate pet food.
Gisborne: First to see the sun and surrounded by pristine beaches and rich farmland, Gisborne embodies the fresh, vibrant coastal environment that inspires SoulMate’s quality.
Palmerston North: With its lush parks, sweeping plains, and strong agricultural heartland, Palmerston North reflects the clean, green beauty that supports SoulMate’s ethically sourced nutrition.
What is Freeze-Dried Pet food?
Freeze-drying is the low temperature dehydration process that involves freezing the product and lowering pressure, thereby removing the ice by sublimation.
In simple terms this process locks in all of the important nutrients for your SoulMate without altering the flavour, aroma and retaining all the health benefits.
FEEDING & PREPERATION
How should I open your packaging
You don’t need scissors! Most of our packaging uses a butterfly style pull tab, pull this right to left to open the bag.
If your packaging doesn’t have a pull tab, then you can simply tear away the top of the bag using the notches as a starting point
Can I use your food as a training treat or meal topper?
Yes, our foods are formulated to be a complete and balanced meal loaded with nutrition, but can also be used as a training treat or topper!
How should I introduce a new food?
Start slow: SoulMate might be delicious, but their gut needs a minute.
For the first 2–3 days, mix 25% SoulMate with 75% of their old food. Think of it like easing them into a spa bath, not tossing them straight in.
Turn up the SoulMate goodness.
Shift to a 50/50 mix for another few days. If they start doing excited spins at mealtime, that’s normal. SoulMate tends to have that effect.
Almost there!
Move to 75% SoulMate / 25% old food for days 5–7. At this point they’ll probably be eating around the old food like it’s the garnish.
Hello, 100% SoulMate.
By day 7–10, your pet should be fully enjoying SoulMate; shiny coats, happy tums, and that “I eat premium now” attitude included.
Keep an eye on their digestion.
A little extra sniffing, excitement, or slightly softer stools for a day or two is totally normal.
Anything more dramatic? Slow the transition or check in with your vet.
Keep things consistent.
Same feeding times, same routine, no surprise snacks, or random treats jumping into the mix.
Make it fun.
Use puzzle feeders, slow bowls, or scatter feeding, SoulMate tastes great, but the adventure should be fun too.
Do I need to rehydrate Freeze dried food?
Our freeze-dried food can be served straight from the pack, just be sure your pet always has access to clean water. If your pet prefers softer meals, you can rehydrate it by adding warm water until it’s just right
